Because Facebook can get boring.

Album after album of the same person taking pictures of the same people in the same place.

Honestly, how can one have 7 albums from their 1 week stay in Mexico? From one weekend at a bar?
Perhaps I lack of friends who keep me interested in Facebook... but despite the 988 "friends" I have on the social-networking site as of today, Facebook has been leaving me bored for the past few months. So much so that I am resorting to looking at profiles or photos of people I'm not even friends with - otherwise known as "Facebook stalk" (Oh the shame! Whatever.) - because of the pure lack of interesting content from the nearly 1000 "friends" I have.

So what does one do when they've reached the Facebook threshold?

  • Well, for starters you can try writing a blog if you're opinionated/creative/open/committed.
  • If you're not inclined to full-sentences or would rather have a scrapbook-like site: Tumblr works.
  • If you want to take 10 steps back in the advancement of technology, join MySpace (yeeahh... no.)
  • If you're hesitant to use Twitter or don't understand why it can be a great tool - make an account and start following people. There are enough people you know on Twitter now to make the ride comfortable and it's not too late to be considered in the late majority. Don't cross over into being a laggard!
I saw an interesting post highlighting the difference between Facebook and Twitter a while back:
"On Twitter you can follow interesting people, not just your friends... Facebook
focuses on who you know, while Twitter focuses on what you know" [source]
While Facebook has been great for keeping in touch with friends and acquaintances (for better or for worse), Twitter and blogs give people the freedom to roam and make new friends. Which is, in my humble opinion, a step above the rather confined networking setting on Facebook. But then again who knows - netizens are so noncommittal.

The little bird flew into my mailbox after I won a giveaway. Thank you Sweetshorn Vintage!
I'm considering spray painting the little bird to add a pop of color to my new room.

backbay day

I thought I'd share some photos from the first day I spent with my brother in Boston before we head to NYC tomorrow! I showed him around my campus and the Back Bay area of Boston. Reflection pool/fountain, The Pru, Newbury, BPL, also managed to go to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Good first day to get him acquainted with his surroundings.

I know, I'm such a cruel older sister making a collage of my brother hahaha

Such a beautiful courtyard at the BPL. The last time I visited was in the winter. Summertime gives it new light!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

A Visitor in Boston

I've been busy showing this guy around Boston:
joeandsk
I debut my seventeen year-old younger brother, Joe.

I flew him out on Tuesday to show him the city I've been living in for the past 3 years. So far no complaints on Boston - except the ongoing heatwave and the broken elevator in my building. (I live on the 5th floor!!!) It's been good to take a few days off of work and actually do stuff in the daytime. Tomorrow we are heading to New York City for a day.

Would you do the couple look?

Matching outfits with your significant other - would you do it?

You see couples doing it all over the world (especially in Asia), and I know a ton of people who frown upon it... but these models wearing Chloe Sevigny's new unisex line kind of make it tolerable. (Well, at least for the photo shoot, right?)

On a sidenote: my boyfriend and I both love our basics (i.e. plain t's with jeans) and often times have to make sure we're not wearing the same thing when we go out for dinner. Hehe :)

my little co.

Oh how I wanted to bring you home with me today!

You were waiting for me on the cafe table at B&N,

but I was too busy studying for my final to play with you.

I hope you're having fun with all your other stuffed friends in the children's section :)

공부하기...

싫어!

주말은 다 지나가고

밖에 나가면 하두 더워서 녹을것만 같고

집중은 절대적으로 안되고

휴~ 여름에 학교다니는게 이렇게 힘들줄이야?

I've been studying for finals lately. School in the summer... harder than I remembered!

P.S. Let's tweet tweet! I'd like to have more people I can "@_____" throughout the day! :) Look at the sidebar to follow!

pyro?

I have a strange infatuation for lighting matches.

The infatuation goes well with my love of candles - but I think my interest in candles only exists to make the lighting matches part seem okay. I think it arises from my fascination and appreciation of matter. I've been wishing I had done better in all my advanced chemistry and biology classes in high school these days. I really just want to know how things work. I can literally stare into a burning match until the flame is too close for comfort.
My best friends sent me this Capri Blue - Volcano candle along with beautiful earrings and a navy top that is exactly my style as a belated birthday gift. I always wondered if I would ever find a group of girls I could always count on, trust, and love - these girls are definitely my lifelong companions!

stop it you

It's a shame that I let some things bother me so much.

I wish I had a purple post-it floating everywhere I go that says "Let it go".

And then a pink one that says "You're better than that!"

first parcel of internet love

Here's the print I won in a giveaway! My first piece of mail from Australia.

I love how vibrant and thoughtful Sweet William's pieces are. I'm still debating if I should bring the peacock to my cubicle at work (it's pretty grey...) or if I should keep it to myself to brighten up my room. Decisions, decisions! :)

Thank you to the sisters at SW and Dionne.

P.S. Remember when sending your address to someone you didn't know personally was the worst possible thing to do on the internet? Funny how times have changed!
