Noko Jeans - Made in North Korea

Three Swedish entrepreneurs launched a line of designer jeans made in North Korea in an effort to increase interaction with the most isolated country in the world. The jeans are made only in black because of the affiliation blue jeans have with the United States.

Although the jeans won't be going on sale in a department store tomorrow as planned, the 1,100 jeans that have been made will be available on the Noko website. The estimated price is about $220 per pair.

Note: The second photo looks a bit like an MJ reenactment. Rumors have it that Kim Jong-il is a big fan.

  1. oh wow, north korea, really?
I wonder how the cost of labour is there...are they even getting paid well...garh it's good and all but questionable human rights always gets me worried.

  3. @Shini I completely agree but the company seems to have a decent corporate social reponsibility commitment?? I also read somewhere that the price of one pair of those jeans is more than 2 years wage of an average North Korean.

  5. that's a really cool idea! i'm surprised that they even allowed production in north korea... i guess because it's a swedish brand and not american.. haha!

and ya, these boots are called ilse jacobsen and they're danish and handmade. pretty sweet! i'm pretty sure they're meant for colder weathers + snow + rain because of the furry lining on the inside! they're really warm!
